Hey guys, I've been meaning to post for a few weeks but I've finally found a spare moment! I'm a hobby sewer/tailor living in New Zealand and a lifelong Star Trek fan. I've made a couple of uniforms based on Alex's patterns and have long followed his page and posts!
I don't remember a time in my life when I wasn't in love with the uniforms on Star Trek, especially the grey DS9/Nem one. As a kid I remember wanting to squish the padding on the grey yokes, it looked so cool… So I was super stoked to make my own one a couple of years ago and am working on another.
I started out sewing for costumes/cosplay but have also moved into tailoring, making suits and more in unique designs and patterns. It has been a fun journey and my life is certainly better for it! I will share some of my Star Trek looks in the other group but for now, just saying hi!
From here, my dream is to make the Season 3-7 TNG jacket but will have to wait patiently for now!

I'm also a lifelong fan of Star Trek, having caught most of the last few seasons of TNG on TV as a kid when it aired.
The DS9/NEM-era uniforms are some of my favorites too. They're great uniforms but DS9 is my all-time favorite show, so I have a strong positive emotional association with them.
That's fantastic how you've branched out from costuming/cosplay sewing into tailored suits (etc.). I love hearing stories like yours. 🙂
And great job with your uniforms – especially that VOY jumpsuit and undershirt!

Also, I daresay my TNG jacket pattern will be worth the wait … here's a little “sneak peak.”
