Hello from Australia
Hello,
I’m Justin, from Melbourne, Australia.
I’m 53 years old and I’ve only recently started making costumes and props in the last decade, since I had kids. I did sewing in high school back in the 80’s, but I still remembered enough to be somewhat of a novice when I started making costumes for my kids. I’m not really too experienced with a sewing machine, but I know enough to certainly get the job done. And where my sewing skills lacked, my hot-glue gun prevailed.
In the past I’ve made and sewn an awesome ‘Gruffalo’ costume for my kids. I sewed the puppet fur for my puppet, ‘Melmo’. And just this year, I sewed parts of my son’s ‘Toto’ costume for his Grade 6 School production (with moving ears).
We LOVE getting dressed up. I’ve bought many costumes in the past. A Spider-Man, The Flash, Professor Snape, to name a few, but I think I’d like to actually start making my own cosplay costumes, as well as just making some of my own shirts and pants.
I’m going to start my journey with a Star Trek uniform that I downloaded digitally from the site, and see how I go from there.
