Men's TNG skant sewing pattern - Tailors Gone Wild

This is a sewing pattern for the men's TNG-era skant uniform.

Based on a screen-used women's skant we examined, as well as reference photos of a screen-used men's skant, our pattern features authentic interior construction and double-zipper closures!

We've also included a conceptual seasons 3-7 version of the skant, with the appropriate yoke and collar styles.

Both versions are included in men's sizes 34-52.

The pattern is printed on three large sheets and also includes a printed copy of text-only instructions.

You love it, or your money back.

We genuinely believe you'll enjoy using this sewing pattern.

Go ahead and give it a try; make a muslin test, or even an entire costume.

If for some reason you don't love it, just let us know by the end of your first week and we'll send you a full refund.

That's a 100% money-back guarantee.

No fine print, no shenanigans.

Great pattern. Lots of sizes, and the new download option is great!

So let’s say your plan is to get swole and end up on one of those new Galaxy-class starships with captain’s pips on your collar. If you want to stand out, what you need is the Starfleet uniform variant that says:
    “Look at my thighs.”
This uniform variant appeared in 5 episodes of season 1 of Star Trek: The Next Generation, and the world was not yet ready for the kind of gender politics that it embodied because after season 1 it disappeared.
To say that the skant is form-fitting is an understatement. This garment is a veritable assault on the male gaze that is guaranteed to make a certain kind of straight man uncomfortable. It’s fantastic.
Cutting out the pattern from spandex is tricky to begin with. What worked for me was pinning the pattern to the fabric and then using one of those rotary cutters to cut the spandex along the edge. Trying to do so with scissors is impossible.
The pattern comes with a tutorial that’s easy to follow, although sewing with spandex is tricky if you’re not used to it.

Installing the zippers took a couple tries to get it right.
I had a bit of command-division red spandex left, so I made a little matching headband to go with the outfit. (It’s still regulation.)
To complete the look you’ll also need: rank pips, comm badge and a pair of black boots.
There are, of course, no pockets, so plan your outings in the skant accordingly.
Thanks so much for this pattern. When I wear it, it feels like the 2360’s never ended!
